Η 65η ετήσια τελετή απονομής των βραβείων Grammy πραγματοποιήθηκε και περιλάμβανε επίσης έναν εορτασμό για την 50η επέτειο του hip-hop. Με αφορμή αυτό, αρκετοί εκπρόσωποι της hip- hop παρευρέθηκαν και μας χάρισαν μοναδικές ερμηνείες. Μερικοί από αυτoύς ήταν οι: Βig Boi, De La Soul, Missy Elliott, Ice-T, Lil Wayne, The Lox, Method Man, Public Enemy, Queen Latifah κτλ.
Η Beyonce έγραψε ιστορία, αφού κέρδισε το 32ο βραβείο της καριέρας της και έγινε η καλλιτέχνιδα με τα περισσότερα βραβεία από οποιονδήποτε άλλο στην ιστορία του θεσμού. Συγκεκριμένα κέρδισε το καλύτερο άλμπουμ χορευτικής/ηλεκτρονικής μουσικής (“Break My Soul”), την παραδοσιακή ερμηνεία R&B (“Plastic Off the Sofa”) και το καλύτερο τραγούδι R&B (“Cuff It”).
